The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you found out why.

White Stone is all about helping discover and develop your child’s unique brilliance. This is more than rhetoric. It’s the why behind how we arrange our days, weeks and academic years.

One of the key elements to this process is fanning the flame of each child’s passions and interests. We believe this puts them on a path toward deep meaning and fulfillment.

Below you’ll find a list of the platforms available (Individual or Group/Team). These symbiotic partnerships with other community organizations makes White Stone stronger and creates effective on ramps for your children to explore and thrive.

Intro to Aviation Platform (7th* & 8th grades)

Does your child have an interest in aviation? Would they like to learn how to fly an airplane? Professional piloting is a great potential career option and all professional pilots began with a Private Pilot’s Certificate. White Stone Academy is proud to present an Intro to Aviation platform available to 7th* & 8th grade students.

Qualifying students will receive flight instruction from FAA certified flight instructors and will learn topics such aerodynamics, ground reference maneuvers, altitude maneuvers (slow flight, stalls), emergency procedures, navigation overview, charts, GPS, and cross country flight.

Students can expect each lesson to consist of approximately 45 minutes to one hour of ground instruction prior to the flight, 60 to 90 mins of flight time shared by three students and an additional fifteen minutes of post flight debrief. Most lessons will be conducted in a Cessna Skyhawk 172R with some lessons conducted in a Piper J3 Cub. The 8 week block of instruction will culminate in a “cross country” flight to the Lewibsurg or Lawrenceburg airport with the student flying the airplane (flight instructor is present during flight).

Lessons 1 & 2 can be contracted as an introductory experience without the commitment of the full course (lessons 3-8), giving the student the opportunity to experience flight prior to any long term commitment. No additional materials or equipment are needed for the first 2 courses. A new microphone cover will be provided for each student. Lessons 3-8 will be contracted as a block with each student needing to purchase their own headset ($129).

COSTS ($190 per lesson)
2 Week Intro – $390 (Lessons 1-2)
Full block – $1,170 (Lessons 3-8)
All fees are kindly requested to be paid up front.

All hours logged do not expire and can be used toward the hours required by the FAA for a pilots certificate.

*Due to the material content & curriculum of this course, students in 7th grade or 12 years old must complete the 2 week assessment first and be invited into lessons 3-8 by the instructors.
